On 2022 Learnings
1. Spend more time with parents. Since 2020, I have seen almost all of my father’s friends die. Denying the fact that my parents are getting older isn’t gonna start reverse aging. I religiously try to avoid after-office hangouts these days so that I can come home on time.
2. Always be biased for action. My respect for doers keeps increasing everyday. It's better to execute a mediocre plan than making a great plan and never executing.
3. Stop focusing on reading more books, start focusing on reading better books. Especially the ones that challenge one’s existing beliefs and biases.
4. If you have any ideas in mind or if anything is bothering you, write them down. Writing helps a lot in terms of bringing clarity of thought. It's also easier to communicate with others when you have clarity on what you want.
5. Never let anyone disrespect you. If someone is making you feel uncomfortable/disrespected, notify/confront him/her regarding this matter.
6. Do the right thing even if it makes you unpopular. Mental satisfaction is way more important than claps.
7. Spend more time understanding personal finance. Always try to maintain 6-9 months of emergency fund and have a solid understanding of how personal taxes work.
8. There's nothing wrong with saying, "I don't know about it. Can you teach me?" Knowledge can come from anywhere/anyone. Also, don’t act like you know something when you don’t. People around you are smarter than you think. They understand when the wise speak and when the idiot blabbers.
9. Prepare a daily plan the night before. List always helps to stay focused and increases probability of getting the right thing done.
10. Get rid of people who never challenge your thoughts. "Yes men" radically increases the probability of failure.
11. Follow the law of supply and demand while giving advice. If you keep giving advice when it isn't asked, you are just supplying more than market demands. That’s where value starts dropping. Avoid giving unsolicited advice.
12. Avoid people who complain a lot and suck mental energy at any cost.
13. Always connect with new people and maintain bonding with old ones. This world is driven by human relationships. Make friends wherever you go.
